Our Vision

Building sustainable food systems that transform Africa's urban centres into thriving communities

Breadbasket Africa envisions a continent where every urban centre has access to affordable, nutritious bread through locally-operated industrial bakeries. We see a future where Africa's growing cities are no longer dependent on expensive food imports, but instead are anchored by efficient production hubs that create jobs, support local farmers, and ensure food security for millions.

Our 2035 Vision

By 2035, we aim to establish 50 industrial bakery hubs across Africa's major cities, directly feeding 100 million people daily whilst creating 500,000 jobs in production, distribution, and support services.

The Transformation We Seek

We believe that Africa has the resources, talent, and market demand to feed itself. What's needed is the right infrastructure, technology, and business models to unlock this potential. Our industrial bakery hubs are designed to be that catalyst.

Our vision extends beyond just building bakeries. We see these facilities as catalysts for broader economic development - creating demand for local agricultural products, developing supply chains, transferring technology and skills, and demonstrating that Africa can efficiently produce its own food at scale.

From Import Dependency to Local Production

  • Breaking the cycle of expensive food imports that drain foreign reserves and create vulnerability to global supply shocks
  • Building resilient local food systems that create jobs, support farmers, and ensure affordable nutrition for urban populations
  • Demonstrating that Africa can produce high-quality food products at scale using modern technology
  • Creating a replicable model that can transform food security across the continent
